All in a Train's Day - 55 Fictions

"Four Different Stories - Four Different Times - Four Different Emotions - About One Character - The Train"

0600 Hours:

A moist breeze laden with wet promises of the day rushed past the speeding train. A few early risers and a few empty cabins floated past a city rising to the embers of the sun.

Littered out on the roof tops and on the window sills, a few kids alone stared at the passage mesmerized.

1200 Hours:

Nobody knew who dropped their lunch on the entrance of the carriage; Warm rice and curry, still steaming and thrumming along with the rhythm of the train; its spicy flavor and fragrance flicking the roiling appetites of the passengers.

The passengers jumped across the spilled food, their attire and their hunger neat & intact.

1800 Hours:

The train started to sweat. It’s every orifice enamored with the crowd returning from their jobs to their homes. Humans hung to each and every piece of holding and standing space available; jostling at each other; their parts and pieces hanging out of the vehicle; squirming with life;

The train plodded on.

2400 Hours:

A few beggars moved from compartment to compartment; picking up whatever hooped their fancy. A red kerchief, a bottle with some water left in it, a few news papers, a couple of ear buds. Carrying the echoes of life left behind, the train clanged hollow.

Amidst these empty ensembles, those beggars compared their today’s loots with glee.

Author's Note:

I have been wanting to start blogging again for quite a while. For that, I was looking for an idea both interesting and also challenging. A jump start of sorts. And when i was playing football today evening, I had a eureka moment about what I was going to write.

A group of 55 fictions, that would all stand alone as separate fictions but when put together can evoke a singular narrative. A single character narrative.

And hence, the story! after some deliberation, I decided to take train as the character. (Last Week, I visited Chennai by train and had an awesome weekend. Hence the inspiration.) I hope you guys like it. Also, I got a few amazing photos while searching for nice snaps of trains. Do visit again to read the stories I frame on those images. Cheers.

In Love - Poetry

I

Darkness drags its feet.
deliquesce denied.
Caught in the dark locks of her hair.
thy night continued.

II

Thy voice of the breeze
singing;
Thy strands of her hair
dancing –
Perennial persiflage

III

Celibate moon
withers;
In tethers-
not able to break
Through her window screens!!

IV

Vulpine straits;
storm torrents;
Turbulent currents;
sails torn,
tears forlorn-
but he still rows-
for she is waiting for him.

Author's Note:
 It has been quite a while since I blogged. When I wanted to restart blogging I wanted to post something light and memorable - some of old poetry (that I tweeted a while back). Hope you guys like them.

The ballad of balloons & other poems

 Poem 1 - The Ballad of the Balloons-

A few blue balloons flew skyward
Time & Gravity
killed their hegira
But the kids eye's were still lost
In the vast skies

Poem 2 - An escape to death:

Hegira from heights
Thy rain drop alights
Torn wings in loaned swings
An escape with torn capes
From thy pan, plop into fire

Poem 3 - The distant echos...

Ensconced amidst
Thy rumbling heart beats;
Echoes a mild melody;
Listen close; you may hear
Her smile;

Poem 4 - SOS

In paltry beats
some billion feats
Thy earth's heart
thumps & bumps
Thy tabernacle

thy home become.  #stopterrorism

Love her smile- A poem

The Poem-

Of Latin celebrated;
Coliseum scarlet painted;
An epoch of aristocracy sainted;
Their;
Dagger tips tainted;
Lips regal anointed;

Matins of a Red satin empire
A culture cooped on attire;
Strung,
Sung &
Cremated.
In a land of Caesars departed-

In Rome –
The home of glass blowing;
Silica Silver warm & glowing;
Fair slivers of-
Flair Rivers;
A million colors; them pillion weavers-

Raining away those brush strokes of light;
Loaning away lush rainbows in flight;
Glazes of glass;
Lazes in class;
Shades shivering in pastels & all ells;
Shimmering allure; their simmering azure;

Such a lovely art; of arcane sort;
Simply lost!
Quite simply lost!!

All the etchings; plaid in pane;
Glass blowing in plain;
Simple lost!
Quite simple lost!!
Its mystery lost-

And all she did was simply smile.
Just smile.

The dip of her lips;
The curve of its nips;
The Dew drop dimples;
The few prop pimples;

Her crimson smile
Thy blooming isle;

With summer's sparkle;
A bit of winter's crinkle-

Just let her smile-
Just once, Oh please-
Just... Let her smile

Oh!! for
I love her.
I love her.
I love her smile.

Author's note-

I wanted to write a poem where the smile of a girl is put in a sublime and poetic way. Hope you guys like it. I learnt the facts of glass blowing and the influence of roman empire on it from wikipedia. Kindly look into it, if interested further.

Lyres of Lust - Poetry

The Snap-

The Poem-

  1.

Plunderer unpermitted,
Her Surrender –
Pepper minted.
He escaped; with the loot;
Unscathed; his wicked suite;

Without even a trace;
He left, except;
She alone simmered; blushing;
Just for a few moments-
With the memory of his touch;

  1.

Her warm lips; Indulgent sips;
Hot & wet; in bartered bets;
Lisps truncated; thy cusps violated;
Shudder & shiver; Blunder & shower;
Her warm lips; kisses; nips;

My eye lids close;
Darkness binds.
Blights-
Ten fingers blind;
Fumbling to find;
Thy elephant’s kind.
Nobody’s wiser; nobody cares;
When,
Her warm lips, in relishing zips,
Do care.

  1.
Very few are thy flowers,
Their buds; Warm suds;
Sodden; unbidden;
Pardon; alone not ridden;
A binge in bed; a tinge of red;

In ecstasy they burst;
Blossoms & Bust;
Blooms in thirst;
Bits of Pollen; bits swollen;
Drips; drops; dew props of honey.
Very few are thy flowers,
That flower first;
& root last.

  1.
Wine tasting; Thine lasting;
It’s Aroma arresting;
Relish riveting;
Each drop savored;
Each one love flavored;

Wine tasting; Fine yeasting;
A rare finesse;
Flair of rich ease;
Taste buds rejoice;
Chaste duds devoice;
Two cups together;
Wine tasting, in tether.

  1.

The sax was played;
 In silence of sorts;
Notes of parts; Keats of tarts;
Held & sled; around thy bed;

Man & women;
Not in parts; not anymore;
Listen close; your ears might lose;
Their embers of melody;
& there lumbers a sweet parody.

Author's Note-

Writing poems about sex and lust in a covert way- in it subtle hints and shy words has always held my fascination.There is I think a sublime line between the aesthetically pleasing and the vulgar in such poetry. With the above poetry, I wanted to make my readers blush and feel warm with love at the same time. And hence I indulged in a tinge of wickedness in the simple lines of love. I leave the shrouded implications to your mind's child. I extremely enjoyed penning the above lines. I hope, you guys- have a pleasurable experience reading them.

Tamil Version of the poem-

Tamil is a beautiful language tailor made for writing poetry. It is the soul of my inspiration as a writer. You need not think in Tamil, words will flow unbridled, bumbling in fountains, simply if you love her, love Tamil. She will entice you with her teasing curves, those sonorous syllables, the fierce passion of her written embers.

Like most of my poetry, my initial version of the poem was in Tamil and I roughly translated the same to English.(Since a direct translation would water down the poetic allure of Tamil.)

PS-

The second poem is a direct reference to the famous story of blind-men and the elephants. If you want to know more about the related story and the John Godfrey Saxe's Poem about the same, kindly visit the given link.

The fourth poem contains direct references to wine tasting. (Though in Tamil, the poem is primarily about how to serve is joy, rather than being served.)

It was quite a task translating the Tamil poems to English. I have taken poetic licence in the translation to keep the wickedness and the joy in the poem true to it's original. For, guys - who could read tamil, I would really like to know - how I have fared.

If you would like to read more poems penned down by me, kindly follow the link.

And finally, I would like to thank my friend Joy for suggesting the title to me and also, asking me to write the English versions of the poem in a more descriptive and elaborate manner so that it will retain the beauty of the Tamil version and do justice to the same. And I hope, you guys can enjoy the Tamil version of it too.

Good bye my love - A poem

Snap-

The poem-

Oh! I will forget, just like them fingers in my hand, babe-
As they strum thy guitar strings
Rapid strokes of mambo jambo-
To the rhythm my heart rings.
A single solo I sing,
Of a man gone hollow-
Breathing sorrow- with each and every ping!

Oh … Yeah!  We danced around with words, babe;
Of the few that were said;
One or two- here and there; Nothing more than that;
Too much a-bare; too much to bear;
Like the distant stars in a lonely sky;
We scattered them too much-
And in darkness, they were.
Waiting for you, girl- Just waiting for you.

To reach out with your hand- babe, them five member band;
Thy strumming; ramming at my heart;
For with each and every move, your warm eyes tend to move;
I root alone for me- for you to look at me
And say something- girl.
My jumping parts are praying thy lord;
Say something girl; Just anything, my girl.

Oh yeah! I am just a fool;
Laying in my pool of a few bitter tears- dried long ago,
My last words to you- a simple song for you;
Hewed broken sods- just if you may;
Just before I leave, somewhere away,
Ahoy in a sway!

But my girl- Don’t you worry,
I am never sad- Nothing’s ever bad.
My love for you will always be there; so bitter and so sweet;
Not that I notice- my own parts; of those young and jumping sorts,
Just like I forgot the fingers of my hand,
Strumming along with me,
Humming alone with me,
Good bye, my love –
One last good bye, my love.

Author's note-

Last night as I was listening to Bob Dylan, It stuck me how simple and lucid his lines were, yet so sharp and honest that they carried his pain, anguish, thought across. And hence I was inspired to write the above poem and I dedicate the same poem to his legend. I tried to model the theme of the song around one of my own favorites "Don't think twice, Its alright" by Bob Dylan. I kept the lyrics quite simple. Hope you guys like it.

And for people, who haven't listened to Bob Dylan, Guys, you just don't know what you are missing. Bob Dylan is the guy who gave the lyrics not just meaning but soul. His songs "Blowing in the wind" and "Times they are a-changing" are anti-war revolutions. The man is a cultural icon, his music an ode to the times that there were, the times that will be. Do listen to him.

PS-

Well, I have tagged - New technique, since I wrote the poetry more as a song to be sung rather than a poem to be read and yeah, I tagged the same with social problems. I mean what's more than a social problem than a heart break nowadays. What say?? :P

Overdue - A poem

The Snap-

Overdue- The Poem.

Bunch of blossoms;
Wet and wilted.
Pinch of thunder;
Set and shorted.

Writhed around;
Tethered abound.
Lightening adrift;
Heightening in shifts;

A few wings tore;
From dew drops sore;
The cloud petals bore;
It started to pour.

A pregnant blast;
The rain’s ballast;
Sloshed soaked;
Terrain naked;

Filth; Grime;
Soil and Slime;
In spurts, it ran; rivulets sang;
In leaps; coy peeps;

Along with the flow;
Alone on the plough;
Furrowed through;
A few lost blood drops;

The last few of the million hewed;
Bled with gusto; Honor presto;
Crimson patches; raw earth’s swatches;
Of long forgotten; War begotten;

In satin swirls, those last blood drops;
Ran along in swills;

Searching along;
For a few drops of tears;
A few drops of tears;
A few centuries overdue!

Author's note-

I simply love to write poetry in Tamil. It just flows.Tamil in itself is so phonetically worded, It's orgasmic to create a lovely thought in the language. It's like my first love- each and every time i write poetry in Tamil, the fleeting sensation of immense pleasure, the more you love, the more you enjoy, getting drunk with words.

The above poem is a roughly translated version of a Tamil poem, I wrote a few days ago. I wanted to capture the pain of war and violence in a melodramatic fashion. I hope that you guys enjoy the same.

The Tamil version of the Poem-

PS-

This is the second Tamil Poem that I have posted. If you liked this one, do check out the first one at the link here. Cheers.

I smiled - A poem inspired by the poem in the movie - The grey.

The Image -

The Poem -

I smiled.

Blood salivating,
In warm trickles,
A mellow taste,
For life’s chaste.

Nails christening,
Each swing crimson.
Those taken red,
Those delivered redder,

I smiled.

Cut lips, waxing blunt.
Wild eyes, waning sharp.
Begotten and forgotten,
Causes and clauses.

Prey and predator,
Praying for the coin tossed.
Heads, he dies,
Tails, he dies.

I smiled.

 Author's note -

I just saw the movie -  The grey and was inspired by the untitled poem that is portrayed in it. The exact lines of the poem are

Once more into the fray
Into the last good fight I'll ever know
Live and die on this day
Live and die on this day.

I wanted to capture the same die hard essence in my own words.

A Romance; Eternal - A Poem

The poem -

An evening's eve
Orange light in sieve.
The sky majestic,
Loudly artistic;

-the vibrant spread of blue
Red, yellow & white in hue;
A renaissance painting,
The dusk's lovely setting.

A fleeting stage,
For the last act;
Of a love's pact;

A romance eternal;
A passion Infernal-

He-

He looked at her,
A warm look;
-his charm's brook,
Gushing care &
lust a bare.

He looked at her,
his love; his heart,
his spirit set apart;

She-

A fairy; fair,
A beauty rare.
In a sari white,
Gracefully light.

A classy lady,
His eye's own candy.

With coy blush; her face,
-A pink flush;

She looked at him.

Her love's knight;
Her night's light;

An angel regal;
Simmering passion-
Her love's paralegal;

She looked at him.

The love-

Time halted;
It's chime thwarted.

Nothing was spoken &
Nothing was needed to be; When

Silence was heard &
Silence was all that needed be.

The end of her lips,
Cringed & crooked.
The bend of her smile,
Singed & sparked.

As drunk he was;
Of her beauty
He got drunk more-

-in her love,
In her love for him.

They rushed.

They hugged,
their lips locked.
Nooks & corners,
caressed and kissed.
Million stories,
shared & cherished.

Sweat & semen-
Wet in heaven.

No- body moved;
No- thing was seen;

Love alone moved;
Love alone was seen;

Seconds were savored;
By two hearts love favored.

The parting-

Like every sublime
second,
that moment too passed.
Like love, time too
doesn't fall nor
does it falter

A moment had; unhad.
A love had; forever had.

He kissed her hand &
took his leave.
Bidding him adieu,
She smiled - exquisite.

They parted their ways,
Still lost in each others rays.
Still red, the warmth of the brace,
They parted their ways.

A Romance eternal.
A passion Infernal.

Never did they show
the tears they swallowed

Forgetting you

The snap-

The poem-

A child; My mind
jumped with glee,
Two feet in air-
Joy abound & bare.

Two wings unhinged
lunged; lupine,
A sky lark's dance-
Of a forgotten romance.

Of kisses; salty,
& tears; saltier.

Of memories; sweet,
& thy pain; sweeter.

The pain of my love;
An angel lost;
eons past;

In a
Lucid tone; of
A lurid atone-

My mind's lark rejoices
And harps,
Rambling drunk;

Soaked up &
exuberant that,

it has forgotten you,

You, my girl

Fair lady of thy lot;
The thumping melody of my heart;

Tangerine-
The rhyme of
her clear crystal voice.

Aquamarine-
The shine of
her sheer liquid eyes.

As in bliss
as my mind may be,

Singing out, of
forgotten you;

A pity it is-

It also forgot-
Even for the ecstasy of forgetting you;
It needs you-

You; my love.

An angel lost
eons past.

Poems tweeted-

The snap-

Her smile-

The curve of her smile- The crescent moon's isle; The sound of her laugh- a few flowers broke, bloomed & coughed- love is bliss.

My love-

In the silence of the night, I am in bliss. The symphony of her voice - thy music. My love - the crescendo of thy orchestra.

The rant-

No I am not a poet. It's just that my heart overflows with so much love seeing her smile that it cant help but rant a bit.

The soul music-

The curve of her rainbow earlobes jingling with the dance of the dew drop earrings is music,life,reason & treason to my soul.

The difference-

My love is a solitary lass. Wither it will not; Tethered with hopes; I will wait; a few seconds or a few centuries makes no difference.

The dawn-

Dew drops few; on the green leaves new; grinned to yew; with sun shine skew; Just born dawn sparkled & smiled.

Art-

It drizzled & then drenched- rainbows rained- She blushed & brushed spectra amok. Picasso's & Van Gogh's failed miserably in vain.

Author's note-

Guys, these are a few poems that I tweeted a while ago. & no these do not form any rhyming patterns. They are just a few wild thoughts put together. Hope U guys like them.

Cheers.. :)

A few single lilies - A poem

The Snap-

The Poem-

A few single lilies - lost in her locks

Sparkled; laughed with delight;
Sparked; broke a few rays of light;

Scattered a few rainbows
Splattered were a skew of Spectra-

Of the seven colors known &
Of a dozen few unknown-

A few single lilies - lost in her locks

Danced along with the rhythm of the wind;
Salsa & Tango; with a bit of
foxtrot thrown in.

Waltz & quickstep;
Zinging it up with-
the east coast swing.

A few single lilies- lost in her locks

were blessed & kissed

And as stars they were christened.

Their laughter & twinkle immortalized.

In curves of her hair;
swaying with the breeze-
playing in the bliss
of eternal despair;

Her flowing hair-
Her beauty's lair;

As dark as the night's sky can never be-
As dense as love will ever always be-

A few single lilies - lost in her locks
......

Alone – A poem

The snap -

The poem -

Mad moments few,
Will be drenched in dew
Lost in the darkness; my wry laments;
Just a handful
A handful of bitter tears;
Deeply blistering tears –
Scarlet scars painted; on
Crimson cheeks tainted;
Of pain;
Of love slain;
Like Cain;
Of Abel slain;

An elegy;
Of a love lost.
An orgy of a melancholy;
At a hearts cost.
Anguish; Ache;
Vodka; Sake;

I cry alone every night,
Dipping and drenching my shattered soul; in
A handful of bitter tears;
Deeply blistering tears –
I cry alone every night,

To remember the moments I spent laughing with her.
The bliss; the heaven;
The kiss; the Beethoven;
My love, my bow;
My Soul, my Spirit;
Lass of an angel;
In the bass of love;

Oh…. I lost her, I lost her
I lost her, I lost her……

Please do not disturb me; When

I cry….. Alone every night.

Author’s note –

The above poem also is based on a Tamil poem that I wrote while travelling to Coimbatore a few days back (I haven’t posted the Tamil poem but if you guys want to read the original Tamil poem, I will post it later). My sis says that I can be pretty depressing with my words sometimes. The above poem according to her is one of them. I don’t really agree with her. I think that pain in love is the ultimate salvation in life.

PS –

I actually am posting this poem from a browsing center nearby my home. The broadband connection in my home has been having a lot of problems lately and I have not been able to tweet or to blog regularly because of that. I have registered a complaint and I think that those BSNL guys will take a couple of days to look into the problem. I will be offline till then. Really funny things have been happening lately and I do have a lot of smiles to spill to you guys and will do so once I come back online. :):)

Until then.

Cheers….

The thread - A poem

The Snap -

The thread - The Poem.

Sacred and Scattered;
Along and across the long lonely nights
Spent pinning,

Are the blossoms of my dreams,
Of you my love; of whom I love -
With all my heart; my soul apart,

And of from those blossoms and buds that lie;
Lie across a million miles,
A million miles across my heart -

To garnish a garland for you, my queen,
A beauty, even moon cringes to face -
And wanes away into the night -
Wading away with shame at it's plight;

I search a thread to thread my love,
From blossoms, blooms, flowers & shoots;
Of a million miles -
A zillion times....

But fail and falter;
Every time;
Every attempt.
The more i try the more i fail;
Remorse rains, remains & drains
My pain, failing to find a worthy thread;

A worthy thread to thread my love,
As flowers and dreams it lies scattered,
My love for you.

In your eyes, then i see....
A strand of light,
A twine of delight,
As the embers of your eyes sparkle when you laugh,

Oh.... I stare mesmerized
And hypnotized,
With rejoice and joy infinite,
I stare.....

At your love, my dove;
Your love for me
That spindles threads out for me...

As the line of light
In your sight....
That jumps and twinkles out of your eyes.....

I love you.

Author's note -

Guys I usually write poetry in my native tongue Tamil in which I am spontaneous. The above poem - The thread is my first full length poem in English. The idea of the poem is based on tamil poem of the same name that i penned a year ago. I have posted the tamil poem as an image for you guys who know tamil. I would love to have your comments on my venture into English poetry.

The tamil version of the poem -

Tamil is a beautiful language that was tailor made for poetry. It is the soul of my inspiration as a writer. You need not think in tamil, words will flow in tamil. I love my language with a passion so fierce that when i write about it, I am overwhelmed with love for my language - tamil. I dedicate this poem to my mother - mother tongue - Tamil. May all praise go to her for seeding in me the germ of poetry.

PS -

Guys, If you liked this poem of mine, then do check out the other poems of mine here. Hope you enjoy them. Cheers.
